Saturday October 7th, we held the autumn event 2017 at Van Amersfoort Racing in Zeewolde
Meeting loving Netherlands is eagerly looking forward to this event all year round. The General Meeting of Volante! Because this is not just meeting. After the duties on changes in the board, a report of the activities and the overview of the financial mountains that Jelte has opposed for our association, it is time for enjoyment.
And that it was! We were guests at Van Amersfoort Racing in Zeewolde! What a breathtaking environment to be.
We were warmly welcomed by the enthusiastic and dedicated team. After signing the necessary papers we were allowed to enter the building further. A great lunch was waiting for us and it was nice to catch up with each other.
After the meeting we went through the building in two groups. We were told the ins and outs about the classes in which VAR is active, the Formula 3 and Formula 4. Cars in various stages were in the workshop, and we obviously got around it. Asking questions about technology and regulations. With much passion everything was explained and answered. Especially for us, an engine test bench was started up and a program was run. Suffering object, the 1.4 liter Abarth engine, which is used in Formula 4. Indeed, the engine from the Fiat Punto.
The second part consisted of a tour of the Formula 1-worthy building. we saw the offices where the engineers get the maximum result from the collected data. The workshop where repairs to carbon weft components are carried out, including autoclave. A space with a supply of tires that many petrolhead can only dream of and where also some race cars from the past, including the old Max Verstappen car! To keep drivers and crew fit they have an indoor gym. And there is a room with 3 racing simulators for the necessary relaxation … and to practice various racing situations in detail. Both on driving technique and also on technical modifications to the vehicles. Finally, we looked at one of the team’s trucks. Equipped for transport to the circuits, but also as a command center on the circuit.
A delicious drink was the conclusion of a successful event. The positive sounds could be heard in all corners. We would like to thank the team at Van Amersfoort Racing for this great organization!
We also thank the resigning board members Sijmen, Roel and Robert Jan for their efforts. Bertram, Frans and Bauke, a lot of success and especially fun in your new functions. Read the minutes of the meeting below.
